Dutra Materials is one of The Dutra Group family of companies. Dutra Materials is a key supplier of aggregate in Northern California with a strategically located quarry in San Rafael and material distribution centers scattered among the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento delta region.
For more than 100 years, Dutra dredges maintained the levee system that turned hundreds of thousands of acres of former Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta marshland into fields for farming. Between 1950 and 1967, Dutra Dredging helped with sections of the 43-mile-long, 30-foot-deep Deep Water Channel. The Army Corps of Engineers project opened the Sacramento River to commercial shipping from the river's mouth through Rio Vista. The Dutra Group has projects across California and as far away as Washington, D.C., and Boston. In 1989, Dutra equipment helped restore the Bay Bridge after it collapsed in the Loma Prieta earthquake.
Bill Dutra, CEO of The Dutra Group, is the last male Dutra family member still in the dredging business and his three daughters are also involved in the family business including Aimi Dutra Krause who serves as Community Relations Director.
